October is finally here and us writers know what that means: NaNoWriMo is almost here! That one month of hecking typing while running on steady diet of caffeine which has the ability to bring together writers across the world.
For those of you who are new to the concept, NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month. Since November holds that title, the writing community takes on a challenge for those 30 days. We task ourselves with writing 50,000 words in one month (roughly 1667 words a day). Participants connect from around the world, giving pep talks and support to those who are in need of a little boost!
When you finish NaNo, you are in no way coming out of it with a finished manuscript — only a first draft. The time is strictly for getting words onto paper using the “vomit technique.” You shouldn’t be going back and editing or correcting yourself, just getting those words onto paper as fast as possible. It’s a great way for writers who have been saying, “I want to write a book” for too long to finally get to actually writing it! It’s time to get that book onto paper!
I’m proud to announce that I will be participating in NaNoWriMo 2017! Because I’m kinda swamped with prepping The Scavenger for release, I won’t be writing a full-length novel. Instead, I’ll be writing a collection of short stories I’m titling Between the Lines. Whether you like romance, adventure, horror, or thriller, the collection will have a little bit of everything. I’m very excited to begin Prep-tober (October is viewed as the prepping month) and take on NaNoWriMo 2017!

Happy Prep-tober, everyone!
I never knew November was known for that. It’s good creatively to have that impetus.
