Title: I’m Thinking of Ending Things
Author: Iain Reid
Genre: Horror, Thriller, Suspense
Review: After finishing this book, I found one sentence to describe it perfectly: “You’ll be scared and you won’t know why . . .”
The book follows a woman as she embarks on a trip with her boyfriend, Jake, to visit his parents. She’s thinking of ‘ending things’ between them, but decides on the trip to give him one last chance. They may sound like a pretty average couple, but this relationship is far from normal.
From start to finish, I was on the edge of my seat reading this book. Although the writing style was simplistic, the suspenseful plot pushed forward and carried my interest throughout. I couldn’t say for sure what was putting me on edge, but Reid did a phenomenal job of dropping subtle details that later came back to haunt the reader. Once I finished the book, I found my mind returning to it throughout the day, struggling to wrap my head around everything I had just experienced.
With Halloween just around the corner, it’s the perfect time of year for a spooky read. If you’re looking for something different that’ll definitely get you in the scary-spirit, this is the book for you!
